Izabel Faceroli 173 Brittain Drive, Apt. 3 Tallahassee, FL 32310 850.391.4465 cristina.faceroli@uol.com.br www.izabelfaceroli.blogspot.com Medium: In my present works I am showing my best results with the textures and acrylic paints. The textures help me to define shapes, light and shadows, transparency and luminosity, enriching the work's dimensions with volume. The use of acrylics paints makes possible works with layers, cleaning some areas and darkening others. These contrasts are my resources to involve the viewers in my work's dynamic provoking them the interest in searching beyond visual elements. Artist’s Statement: About 10 years ago, after finish my second graduation in Arts, I started to work with acrylic paints, in my home country, Brazil, I became passionate about this medium. Despite many people not liking this medium because it dries too fast, I used this fact to my own benefit. I was highly motivated to learn and explore the possibilities that media could provide me. It was a challenge, I avoid being in the comfort zone and being bored with making Art. I like to be searching for the unknown, for the undiscovered. Then, I started my search for the materials behaviors and choose the best surfaces to work on. At this point I discovered the texture. I have been developing them for all these years. My textures have body and I use acrylic molding paste adding glue to obtain more flexibility and avoid cracks. I have the same purpose when I choose to build my works on wood (Particularly Eucatex from Brazil). When I really had experience and knowledge to use these materials and techniques I was able to develop my own visual language with acrylics. My art works with acrylics are my challenge, my passion, my search and mainly my unique and own visual language. |
